Humber
Bridge Bash - World Record Breaking Abseil - July 2006 It’s
hard to believe that the Humber Bridge has already been open for 25 years,
and to celebrate this momentous occasion there will be a series of spectacular
events taking place in and around the Bridge from 13 – 16 July.
Please feel free to either email your pledges or contact us via post using the address below. Gale
Consulting Gale Consulting gets Ministry of Defence Recognition - October 2005
The presentation to Director Nick Gale took place on board HMS Iron Duke while it was paying a visit to Hull as part of the Royal Navy’s Trafalgar 200 celebrations.
The Ship's Company also provided an "open ship" with demonstrations and stances to show employers aspects of life in the Royal Navy and the typical training and skills that can be offered to reservists. The Great North Run - 18 September 2005 - UPDATE
Lynne said: "I write this having just returned from finishing the Great North Run in a time of 3hrs 14mins. Slower than last year but I think I did well considering the heat! Sadly 4 runners died this year but this must not take anything away from everyone who took part and the organisers, who do a marvelous job of keeping things running very effectively. I will try again next year - all bodily parts seem to be okay". Nick's Leap of Faith - 4 September 2005 - UPDATE
Still smiling after his epic adventure, Nick declared (using slightly more colourful language) "Absolutely thrilling! Can't wait to do it again next year!".
The Great North Run - 18 September 2005
This is the second year that Lynne has participated in the world’s biggest half marathon, a gruelling 13.1 miles/21.09 km. Although Lynne ran a commendable time of 2 hours 55 minutes in last year’s race, she took slightly longer than Dejene Berhanu of Ethiopia who smashed the course record by 21 seconds, running an amazing 59 minutes 37 second race. Lynne is looking once again for support for her designated charity Yorkshire Cancer Research and would be extremely grateful for any pledges. It would be wonderful for her to beat last year’s sponsorship of over £1,100. You can sponsor her direct by using the following link:- http://www.justgiving.com/lynnegale

All monies raised on the day will go to Dove House Hospice and Nick would appreciate any pledges you would care to make. Please send cheques to Nick at Gale Consulting made payable to Dove House Hospice. Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce Royal Network Lunch - July 2005
Although the Guest Speaker was introduced as HRH The Duke of Edinburgh by the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, it was actually HRH Prince Andrew who was attending and who sportingly laughed off the faux-pas! The lunch theme was "A Taste of Lincolnshire", and as a result of Prince Andrew’s penchance for fish, chips and mushy peas, the excellent Grimsby Deep Fried Haddock went down a treat. The lunch itself was the focal point of a day long visit by Prince Andrew to the area to see the new CHP plant at Conoco Philips and a trip to see how the CATCH chemical training plant was progressing. Mind Mapping for Creativity Workshop – May 2005 Having learnt that Lincolnshire based Mind Mapping Specialist Jennifer Crossland was emigrating to Australia in June, Gale Consulting decided not to let the opportunity of discovering the benefits of Mind Mapping slip from their grasp and so organised a one day workshop in North Ferriby on 16 May. The day comprised of an introduction to the history of Mind Mapping followed by an interesting and heated discussion on "the uses of a paper clip" (we discovered that the number one use of a paper clip is as a stress relief toy - bending it into different sculptural shapes!). There was much fun to be had when juggling balls were handed out to everyone present and several feeble attempts were made to master the technique although a couple of participants did impressed with their 3 ball cascade routines! Lunch was an unhurried affair and the afternoon comprised of a more serious attempt at mind mapping which proved very enlightening. The day finished with everyone presenting their own special mind maps which were quite colourful affairs, due to the fact that we were all presented with a rainbow selection of pens to use and take home with us. Hull Business Women get to grips with David Davis MP - February 2005
Following an excellent buffet (of which very little remained by the end of the evening!), the ladies were entertained by the charismatic and charming David Davis MP. David, the Shadow Secretary of State for Home, Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and Shadow Home Secretary is also the local MP for our area of Haltemprice and Howden, so he was very much on home territory. Having regaled us all with some very amusing anecdotes of his early days as a young parliamentarian, David happily took a Q & A session from the ladies (and several gentlemen) present. Following a number of very in-depth questions about the current immigration and asylum issues, the problems being encountered by the Financial Services sector, and the failings of the education system, the proceedings were lightened by Lynne Gale’s probing concerning the questionable performance of the Conservative Party’s marketing team! Mind Mapping for Creativity Workshop - Mon 16 May 2005, North Ferriby Would
you like to attend our Introduction to Mind Mapping Workshop? Originated in the late 1960s by Tony Buzan, millions of people around the world– from the very young to the very old – use Mind Maps whenever they wish to use their minds more effectively. Captavia™ User Group - December 2004 The quarterly meeting of the Captavia™ User Group will be taking place on 7th/8th of this month (in case you thought it was the 1st Wednesday of the month!). The location this time round is Black Country Chamber & Business Link (BCCBL) and as usual there will be a best practice session where ideas on how best to utilise the software are shared. We look forward to seeing you all at the evening meal on 7th and at the meeting on the 8th! Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce Dinner - November 2004 Lynne Gale attended the Annual Dinner hosted by Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel on 9 November 2004. A lively and entertaining evening was had by all with keynote speaker the Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, Secretary of State for Education delivering an informative talk on the subject of Education and how, after seven years in Government, the Labour Party has progressed in its objectives. The second speaker at the event was John Godber, the celebrated playright, who is celebrating his 20 year love affair with Hull Truck Theatre and the City of Hull. Unfortunately, Charles Clarke was unable to stay for John’s talk but if he had done, he would no doubt have been fascinated to hear about his upbringing in West Yorkshire. John left school having failed his 11 Plus examination but this didn’t stop him exploring the world of drama and going on to study at University, whilst emptying bins as a part-time job. Expressing his views on education, John said he felt it was necessary to get children engaged in whatever was necessary to start them off on a journey of life-long learning. The Annual Dinner is one of the most prestigious events in the Yorkshire business calendar, attended by many business leaders across the region and has been a sell out for the past five years with in excess of 350 people attending this year’s event. The Great North Run - September 2004
Lynne has always had an interest in keeping fit but only started to run about two years ago. With the help and enthusiasm of personal fitness trainer, Jan Fisher-Moody, participation in the Great North Run was outlined as a goal. Lynne completed in a time of 2 hours 55 minutes. She ran with brother in law Mike who, although capable of running the course in under two hours, kept with her and motivated her every step. Kelly Holmes, the Olympic Gold-medalist started the race. It took about 25 minutes for all the athletes to cross the starting line at which point the Red Arrows passed overhead - a very “tingly” moment! Lynne reported “It was very humbling to see the wheelchair athletes churning their way through some tough inclines around Newcastle ring road. My heart went out to the runners who were receiving treatment from the first aid points around the course. It must be heartbreaking to train for so long only to have to give up before the end”. There
were all types of musical offerings along the way, steel bands, rock groups,
traditional jazz, to keep the runners going. The crowds were tremendous!
They were incredibly supportive cheering and clapping, handing out drinks
and sweets. It is a really important event in the North East calendar
and everybody seems to come out to support it. Lynne even managed to have
a quick chat with Sir Jimmy Saville along the last mile in South Shields. Lynne would like to thank everyone who was kind enough to support her and to let you know she has signed up and has guaranteed entry for the next THREE YEARS!!! Technology Means Business (TMB) - September 2004

Media Production Services - August 2004 You may not be aware that Gale Consulting have been providing a full range of Corporate Video or New Media production services, through our associate company - Garton Film & Video. Garton Film & Video is run by Howard Garton, a freelance Television Cameraman, and Corporate Video Producer, with over 20-years experience in the production of Corporate Videos - for applications in sales, marketing, communication, and training. Appointment of New Director - June 2004
Nick has worked with the company as a Business Analyst since joining the team in 1997 and has successfully managed a great number of technical projects, providing systems support and analysis to a range of clients and we look forward to seeing Nick continue his successful career with Gale Consulting. Lynne Gale, Della Russell and an associate of Gale Consulting, Sallyann Leach, attended the latest monthly Women in Business meeting held at the Willerby Manor Hotel close to the Gale Consulting offices. The topic of the evening was IT which suited us nicely! The Chair of the meeting was unfortunately let down at the last minute by the scheduled speaker and had managed to muster up two IT consultants who had been on hand to her that day within her own company. By chance we were all seated at the same table so Lynne Gale was able to be involved in answering many of the questions and queries put forward by the other members of the group dealing with all aspects of their IT. Although it was very much ‘on spec’ the evening went off very well. Some of the aspects covered were email and SPAM, CRM systems and latest technology. Hundreds of women who have quietly achieved extraordinary success in Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, attended the first Women of Achievement Awards organised by Women in Business, the networking organisation established in 1994 to provide a forum for female managers and entrepreneurs in the region. Lynne Gale, who launched her own North Ferriby based IT Project Management company Gale Consulting which now boasts a £1-million turnover with clients such as BMW, British Aerospace, East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust and the East Riding Health Authority, was voted winner of the Women of Achievement Award in engineering and communications. "Sometimes people tell me they are terrified by IT, but we take that terror away. My work is an absolute joy. I am never worried by systems or problems or complicated technology. Sometimes the politics within organisations are the most difficult things to resolve and they occasionally make things more complicated than they otherwise need to be. However, we are skilled in resolving such problems and the rest is easy!" |
